BTP-L-4 is a self-adhesive portable ballistic panel at BR3 or BR4 — 16.7 to 19 kg/m², fitted by the client's own people, dispatched within five hours of order confirmation where Fortis partners operate.
Fragment, blast or drone threat
Glazing systems are not the answer to overpressure and fragmentation. The WIN systems oversize the glass and cover the frame with an external PMMA–polycarbonate–BoPET panel, with FTL 600 inside as the splinter barrier. WIN detail →
Transparent — glazed openings

BTP Ballistic Glazing — BR2 to BR7

A layered composite of laminated safety glass, polycarbonate, acrylic (PMMA) and selected PET, engineered to absorb and disperse projectile energy while holding optical clarity. Weights are per square metre — the number your frame, lintel and ironmongery have to carry.

Areal density stated per m² of glazing. Classification to EN 1063; EN 1522 applies to the complete window, door or shutter assembly including frame. The inner face carries a BoPET spall-control layer. Classifications apply to the complete tested Fortis system.

BNTP Opaque Armour Panels — FB1 to FB7

Glazing is rarely the weak point — the wall beside it usually is. BNTP panels are UHMWPE laminates, optionally with a silicon carbide ceramic strike face, built into structural walls, safe-room linings, door leaves and window and door frames.

The composite-versus-steel line, in your own table
BNTP-4 and BNTP-5 are both FB7 / STANAG Level 2. The UHMWPE and ceramic build is 34.9 kg/m². The ballistic steel build is 55.4 kg/m². Same certificate, 37% less dead load — which is the difference between a lining the existing structure can carry and one it cannot.
Where these go
Window and door frames, ballistic door leaves, safe-room walls, structural walls and reception counters. Panels are built into the wall build-up on site, so the finish is unaffected and nothing reads as armoured.
Retrofit — existing glazing

FTL 300 & FTL 600 Security Laminate

The same high-tensile PET laminate we build into the certified ballistic glazing above, supplied as a bonded retrofit on the glass already in the building. Under 1 mm added. No change to the pane, the frame or the structural opening — which is why it does not touch the glazing schedule at all.

Scope, stated plainly: FTL is an anti-break-in and anti-vandal product. It is not classified ballistic glazing and must not be specified against a ballistic requirement. Where the brief calls for a BR level, specify BTP. EN 356 classification is in progress.

What the frame actually carries.

Areal density is the figure that decides whether an opening can be upgraded at all. Unit weight for three common pane sizes, so the answer is available before the structural engineer is.

Ballistic glazing — BTP
Ballistic glazing: Fortis Protection Systems BTP-6 laminated composite unit, comprising laminated safety glass with selected PET interlayers and BoPET spall-control inner face. Nominal thickness 29 mm; areal density 55 kg/m². Classified to EN 1063 class BR6 (7.62 x 51 mm). Frames, fixings, lintels and ironmongery to be designed for the stated areal density. Supplied and certified by Fortis Protection Systems; test documentation for the complete tested system to be issued with the glazing. Substitution only on written approval of an equal certified system.
Opaque armour lining — BNTP
Opaque ballistic lining: Fortis Protection Systems BNTP-4 composite panel, comprising ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) with silicon carbide (SiC) ceramic strike face and selected PET. Nominal thickness 18 mm; areal density 34.9 kg/m². Classified to EN 1522 class FB7 / VPAM 7 / NATO STANAG Level 2. Panel to be incorporated into the wall, door leaf or frame build-up to the manufacturer's detail, with continuous coverage across joints and service penetrations. Supplied and certified by Fortis Protection Systems.
Retrofit security laminate — FTL
Security laminate to existing glazing: Fortis Protection Systems FTL 600, 600 micron optically clear PET security laminate, bonded to the internal face of existing glazing. Anti-vandal and anti-break-in application; not classified ballistic glazing and not to be specified against a ballistic requirement. Visible light transmittance 92 +/- 3%; clarity not less than 99%; UV blocking not less than 99% (GB/T 2680, ASTM D1003). Where external sacrificial protection is required, add FTL 300 to the external face. Installed by Fortis-certified technicians only; installation certificate and batch records to be issued per project.
