FTL 300  ·  FTL 600

Fortis Security Laminate.
Blast, break-in & bullet resistant.

FTL is a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) security laminate that bonds to existing glass and transforms it into a blast-retentive barrier — containing fragmentation, absorbing overpressure, and preventing penetration. No structural modification. No visible change.

The Threat Context

Glass is the weak point.

Modern buildings — especially in Dubai — feature large glazed facades, full-height windows, and glass entrance lobbies. They look beautiful and let in light. They also represent a significant vulnerability in any security incident.

Plain glass shattered after impact — ballistic test sample

"In the event of a blast, the primary cause of injury is not the explosion itself but the catastrophic fragmentation of unprotected glass into high-velocity shards and shrapnel that project into occupied spaces."

Blast & overpressure

Glass fragmentation contained, occupants protected from shrapnel scatter.

Forced entry & burglary

Film membrane resists penetration by tools and impact.

Drone strikes

Withstands small commercial drones with explosive payload at proximity.

Vandalism

Optional exterior layer takes the abuse; interior protection remains intact.

Solar / UV degradation

FTL 600 blocks ≥99% UV — meaningful in south-facing GCC glazing.

Four protection configurations

Graduated by threat level.
Same base technology.

Every Fortis configuration uses the same FTL 300 and FTL 600 base laminates — applied in different combinations to deliver progressively higher protection. Solution 3 is the recommended campus-wide standard; Solution 4 is reserved for the highest-priority areas.

Entry-Level 01

Blast & Spall Protection

One layer of FTL 300 on the interior face of existing glass.

Blast retention membrane. Glass breaks but adheres to the film, eliminating shrapnel scatter — the primary cause of blast-related injury.

Threat coverage

  • · Minor blast / overpressure
  • · Spall and shrapnel
  • · Low-energy impact
  • · Partial anti-vandal

Recommended for: internal corridors, gymnasiums, low-risk facades, canteen glazing.

Intermediate 02

Burglary, Medium Blast & Small Drones

One layer of FTL 600 on the interior face of existing glass.

Engineered for superior penetration resistance. Plus ≥99% UV blocking — significant for south-facing GCC classrooms.

Threat coverage

  • · Burglary / forced entry
  • · Medium blast events
  • · Small drones with payload
  • · Complete spall retention

Recommended for: ground-floor classrooms, admin offices, IT suites, main entrance lobbies, perimeter windows.

Comprehensive 03

Full-Spectrum Protection

FTL 300 exterior + FTL 600 interior — dual-sided composite system.

Exterior FTL 300 absorbs and distributes initial impact energy; interior FTL 600 provides the primary retention barrier. Substantially exceeds either film alone.

Threat coverage

  • · Burglary, forced entry — enhanced
  • · Vandalism (exterior takes the abuse)
  • · Small–medium drones with payload
  • · Small–medium blast events
  • · Complete spall under all loads

Recommended for: all primary campus glazing — classrooms, admin, entrance lobbies, sports facilities, perimeter facades. Campus-wide standard.

❖ Safest
Maximum 04

Maximum Protection — High-Risk Areas

FTL 300 exterior + two layers of FTL 600 interior.

Combined interior film layers — sufficient to contain glass under heavy blast or medium-class drone strike.

Threat coverage

  • · Heavy blast / high overpressure
  • · Medium-class drones with payload
  • · Maximum burglary resistance
  • · Complete shrapnel containment

Recommended for: main entrance lobby, principal offices, glazing facing public roads or vehicular access.

Where it's deployed

Engineered for exposed glass facades.

Fortis FTL is specified across the full spectrum of buildings whose glazing is too valuable to leave unprotected.

Education

Schools & Universities

Large glazed campuses where occupant safety from blast fragmentation is the primary concern.

Diplomatic

Embassies & Consulates

Discreet upgrade for street-facing windows without altering the building's diplomatic architecture.

Government

Ministries & Public Buildings

Lobby and perimeter glass protection for buildings hosting officials, sensitive material, or sensitive data.

Critical Infrastructure

Energy, Telecom, Transport

Hardening of facility entrances and control rooms against blast and forced-entry attempts.

Commercial

Banks, Jewelers, High-Value Retail

Anti-burglary and ballistic resistance with no visible change to the storefront.

Private

VIP Residences & Safe Houses

Discreet, transparent protection for private homes where ostentatious armoring would be counter-productive.
