BTP · BNTP · Safe Rooms · Checkpoints
Ballistic systems for the entire building envelope — transparent glass composites for windows and lobbies, non-transparent panels for walls, doors, and safe rooms, and exterior security elements for facades, perimeters, and checkpoints.
Why it matters
Governmental buildings, embassies, banks, schools, and critical infrastructure share a common problem: a security risk profile that doesn't match the architecture. Modern facades are predominantly glass; doors and walls are sized for aesthetics, not ballistic loads.
The Fortis system addresses every part of the building envelope with the same engineering principle — composite materials, lightweight construction, and certified protection levels — applied as discreetly as possible. Most installations leave no visible exterior change.
Transparent — Windows & Doors
Multi-layer composites of laminated glass, polycarbonate, acrylic, and FTL transparent laminate — engineered to defeat threats from handgun rounds (BR2) up to armor-piercing 7.62×39 API (BR7 / STANAG Level 2). All can be installed in existing window frames as glass-element replacements.

Highlight: BTP-L-4
Self-adhesive composite — at 19 kg/m², less than half the weight of conventional BR4 glass. Delivered within 5 hours of order in countries with FPS partners. No expert needed for installation. Designed for safe houses, witness protection sites, and VIP residences where exposing a contractor would be a security risk.
For pure film systems
For anti-vandal, anti-burglary, and blast-protection deployments where existing glass is being upgraded in-place rather than replaced, see our dedicated FTL Security Laminate page →
Non-Transparent — Walls, Doors, Safe Rooms
Engineered composites of UHMWPE (ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene), silicon carbide (SiC) and boron carbide (B4C) ceramics, ballistic steel, and selected PET — for door frames, ballistically-resistant doors, walls, and safe rooms. Tested to EN 1522 / FB classification.

Exterior & Perimeter
For critical infrastructure, governmental buildings, military barracks, and objects close to armed-conflict zones, Fortis offers laminates that bond to facade material and can be painted over — stopping grenade-launcher rounds, high-power explosives, and anti-aircraft machinegun ammunition. Walls covered with our laminates can serve as combat shelter for soldiers and security personnel.
Laminate-bonded facade material, painted over for invisibility. Thickness calculated per project threat assessment.
Complete stations — barriers, bollards, ballistic protection elements — designed and installed turnkey.
Custom-designed using our transparent and non-transparent elements. Lightweight and cost-effective.
Discreet reinforcement of windows, doors, and interior safe rooms. Lightweight and thin — significantly lower risk of compromising the protected location.
Modified containers with ballistic windows, body protection, and anti-drone roof cages — for HQ, barracks, weapon storage, anti-explosion shelter, or border check-points. Lightweight construction allows easy redeployment.
Commercial & Private
Banks, money exchanges, jewelry stores, gas stations, airports, museums, schools, hospitals, drug stores, and pawn shops on the commercial side; high-value private residences and apartments on the personal side. Fortis solutions slow down active threats and buy precious moments for occupants to escape and respond. Most commercial deployments use BR2–BR5 (FB2–FB5) protection levels.
Banks & Finance
Teller windows, cash-handling rooms, ATM lobbies — anti-burglary and anti-ballistic.
Jewelry & Retail
High-value display windows, storefront entrances, secure stockrooms.
Education
Schools, universities, daycare facilities — anti-shatter and blast-spall protection.
Healthcare
Hospital pharmacy and emergency departments where forced-entry risk is elevated.
Hospitality & Museums
Cultural institutions and luxury hospitality with display-case and lobby exposure.
Aviation
Airport secure-zone glazing and tower protection — meeting civil aviation security profiles.
Private Residences
Discreet, transparent protection for villas and apartments where ostentatious armoring is not desired.
Industrial
Gas stations, fuel depots, sensitive manufacturing — perimeter and access-point protection.
Perimeter & Entry Control
The first line of defence is the perimeter. Vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs), ram-raid attacks, and hostile pedestrian access are most effectively neutralised before they reach the structure itself. Fortis designs and installs complete perimeter hardening systems — from crash-rated vehicle barriers to ballistic guard posts — to IWA 14 and PAS 68 performance standards where required.
Every perimeter assessment starts with a threat analysis: access-road geometry, standoff distances, expected vehicle weights and speeds, and the level of covert or overt deterrence desired. The result is a layered system where each element works in concert with the next.
Vehicle Barriers
Fixed and retractable bollards rated to stop a 7,500 kg vehicle at 80 km/h (IWA 14-1 M30 / PAS 68 V/7500[N2]/80/90:0.0). Retractable variants allow controlled vehicle access without compromising protection when closed.
Vehicle Barriers
Surface-mount and shallow-foundation road blockers for sites where deep excavation is not feasible. Anti-ram beams for wide entrances — vehicle gates, loading bays, and plaza access points.
Access Control
Ballistic-rated pedestrian and vehicle gates. Full-height turnstiles for personnel access points. Integrated with access-control and CCTV systems where required. Options from BR2 pedestrian gates to vehicle-rated sliding barriers.
Guard Infrastructure
Custom-built guard huts combining our transparent BTP composites (for observation) and BNTP non-transparent panels (for cover). Rated BR4–BR7. Fast on-site assembly from pre-manufactured elements.
Perimeter
Modular ballistic and blast walls for rapid perimeter establishment. Suitable for diplomatic compounds, military forward operating bases, and critical infrastructure sites where permanent construction is not viable.
Checkpoints
Turnkey checkpoint design and installation: vehicle lanes, personnel lanes, guard huts, barriers, and lighting — all coordinated from a single contract. Widely deployed at embassies, government compounds, and industrial facilities.
Safe Rooms & Vaults
A safe room is the end of the protection chain — the space occupants can reach and hold when every other layer has been breached. Fortis engineers safe rooms and vault rooms from the inside out: ballistic walls, blast-rated doors, and certified glazing, integrated into new construction or retrofitted into existing structures without major works.
Residential & VIP
Discreet safe rooms for private residences, villas, and apartments. BNTP composite walls, a ballistic door rated to BR6 or higher, observation port or ballistic glazing, independent communication, and optional emergency power. The room is typically designed to be indistinguishable from the surrounding interior.
Government & Diplomatic
Rated to STANAG L2 / BR7 for diplomatic environments where the threat includes automatic weapons and shaped-charge devices. Designed to meet host-country and home-country security standards. Full project documentation for security clearance submissions.
Data Centres & Servers
Physical hardening for data centres and server infrastructure: ballistic and blast-rated walls, electromagnetic shielding integration, and access-control-compatible ballistic doors. Applied to existing rooms without structural demolition.
Banking & Finance
Composite vault construction meeting EN 1143-1 resistance grades and ballistic standards. Teller windows, cash-handling rooms, and night-deposit areas hardened with transparent BTP composites and BNTP door surrounds.
Component
Steel-core ballistic doors rated BR4–BR7, supplied with matching frames and concealed hinges. Available with observation ports using BTP composite glazing. Delivered to site and fitted by certified installers — can be retrofitted into existing door openings without structural modification.
Emergency
Above-ground blast shelters for sites where below-ground construction is not feasible — oil and gas facilities, remote infrastructure, field command posts. STANAG L2 / FB7 rated composite construction, modular for air transport.
