Fortis Protection Systems Group is a defense-grade ballistic protection company headquartered in Ljubljana, Slovenia, with dedicated regional teams serving North America and the broader global market. We design, manufacture, certify, and install lightweight composite armoring systems for governments, militaries, critical infrastructure operators, and high-value private clients.
Founding Principles
Conventional armoring solves the ballistic problem and creates three new ones: weight, cost, and visibility. Heavy armor compromises vehicle handling and structural integrity. High initial investment plus expensive ongoing maintenance reshapes the customer's budget. Visible armoring announces what is being protected — often the wrong message.
Fortis was founded on the premise that composite engineering can solve all three — UHMWPE, ceramic composites, and PET films deliver certified protection at a fraction of the weight, with discreet installation that often leaves no visible exterior change.
We hold international ballistic certifications (VPAM PM6 Level 6, NIJ IIIA/III/IV, EN 1063, EN 1522, NATO STANAG L1/L2) and operate our own R&D, production, and certified-installation network across multiple countries.

Headquarters & R&D
The Fortis Protection Systems Group is registered and operates from Ljubljana. Slovenia is home to our R&D laboratories, composite production lines, certified ballistic-glass autoclave facilities, and master technician training. Production also runs out of Turkey for select curved-glass products.

What we do, end-to-end
Fortis is vertically integrated. We control the chain from composite engineering to certified installation — which is how we hold quality across the system.
Composite material science, threat-profile modeling, prototype development, third-party laboratory validation.
In-house production of UHMWPE composites, ceramic-backed plates, ballistic-glass autoclave units (Slovenia & Turkey), and PET lamination in dust-free rooms.
Independent ballistic certification through SK Znalci Forensic Expert Organization. Custom-spec certifications turn around in approximately one month.
Certified Fortis technicians perform on-site installation. Each project ships with a Fortis-issued installation certificate and lab-traceable batch records.
Production Capacity
For procurement programs, Fortis can deliver up to 20,000 ballistic plates per month, with surge capacity to 50,000 in two months. Custom certification per specific caliber turns around in approximately one month.
For laminate and glass projects, multi-thousand square meter installations are coordinated through our certified-technician network across North America and internationally.
